This wine is dedicated to a dinner party that winemaker Scot Sampler and members of the Central Coast Group hosted in a downtown loft in Los Angeles from 1998 to 2004. According to their website, “they drank through a world of incredible wines, ate a lot of sauce & it was an invaluable chapter in my wine education & journey.”

Why, oh why wasn’t I invited to these parties? Well, I wasn’t there but I relived those nights through this bottle.

Grapes: – 60% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

Where is it from- Santa Barbara County.  Santa Barbara County is in Southern California , 90 miles northwest of Los Angeles. There are six official AVAs within the Santa Barbara County AVA: Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara, Santa Maria Valley, Santa Ynez Valley, Ballard Canyon, Los Olivos District and the Sta. Rita Hills. The region is along the Pacific Ocean which influences its many many microclimates. This area is famous for “being one of the most diverse growing regions in the world” and for its Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

Why should I drink this wine? Well, it’s delicious.  “The 2013 Red Table Wine Super-Cali is saucy, juicy and finger licking good. Ok I didn’t dip my fingers into the glass, but I kinda wanted to. On the first sip, I get juicy sweet dark cherries, ripe black berries, fresh plum juice dripping down the corners of my mouth on a warm day, black peppers, sweet basil, thyme, sweet tobacco, black pepper. Yes sir, lip smacking delicious. Pair with bbq, burgers, mushrooms, lamb. Serve with friends or if you want to make friends.
